FWP Approves South Fork of Coal Creek Habitat Enhancement Project

By Beacon Staff

State fisheries managers approved increased spawning of westslope cutthroat trout and bull trout and habitat improvements on the South Fork of Coal Creek in Flathead County.

Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks completed a draft environmental assessment for the South Fork of Coal Creek Habitat Enhancement Project. FWP will add large, woody debris into an impaired section of the South Fork of Coal Creek.

The draft was out for a 21-day public review through June 28. Three comments were received, with none in opposition to the project, according to FWP.
