FWP Reports Wounded Grizzly Bear Near Trego

By Beacon Staff

Recreationists and residents near Trego are being asked to exercise caution while wildlife officials search for a wounded grizzly bear, according to an announcement Monday afternoon from Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks.

FWP and members of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service are investigating an incident involving the bear. FWP Region 1 Warden Captain Lee Anderson said a wounded bear may be at large in the Butcher Creek drainage near Trego. Efforts were made to find the bear over the weekend but were unsuccessful.

Anderson is urging people to exercise caution and to report any sightings of a grizzly bear to FWP.
