Biologists will begin capturing grizzly bears in northwestern Montana this month as part of ongoing research into the population of the threatened species.
The work will take place in the Blackfoot Valley, along the Rocky Mountain Front, in the Swan and Clearwater River Valleys, within Glacier National Park, and in the North and Middle Forks of the Flathead River.
Officials say people living in those areas should watch for and heed warnings signs that will be posted at major access points to trapping sites.
Trapping of bears will last from April through October.
Once captured, the bears are sedated, studied, and released.
In 2010, a Wyoming man was killed by a grizzly that had just reawakened after being trapped for study in the Shoshone National Forest.
