After High-Speed Chase, Man Pulls Gun on Police

By Beacon Staff

A man is in custody after leading police on a high-speed chase through Kalispell Monday evening, which ended when the man pulled a gun on officers, then dropped it. No one was injured.

Police responded when a witness reported the man driving his truck at 110 miles per hour in the wrong lane of traffic on U.S. Highway 93 around 5 p.m.

According to police reports, the man drove south to Somers, then turned around and came back. Police slowed him down by laying spike strips on the road, but the man proceeded to drive on three flat tires to Foys Lake Road, where he collided with a parked 18-wheeler truck.

When police approached the vehicle, the man pulled a .44-caliber Magnum handgun out of his glove compartment, but dropped it and was arrested. Police also found a shotgun in his backseat.

The man was identified as 20-year-old Scott Foster of Kalispell. Charges are pending against Foster, so no further information was available as of Monday night. The Beacon will update the story Tuesday as more information becomes available.
