AG: Refunds Coming for AirTEL Wireless Customers

By Beacon Staff

HELENA – Montana Attorney General Steve Bullock says the state is in the process of securing some refunds for consumers abruptly left without cell phone service when AirTEL Wireless closed its doors earlier this year.

The Department of Justice is seeking to identify consumers with valid complaints against the cell phone provider, which unexpectedly cut off service Feb. 20.

The agency says customers who purchased monthly cell phone plans or prepaid phones with AirTEL in the month prior to the closure are eligible for financial relief. Those consumers are being encouraged to contact the state Office of Consumer Protection.
