Another Democrat Gets Into House Race

By Beacon Staff

Another Democrat is joining the field seeking to replace Republican Rep. Denny Rehberg, who is challenging U.S. Sen. Jon Tester.

Rob Stutz said Wednesday he plans a campaign launch tour through several Montana cities.

Stutz most recently worked as the top lawyer for the Montana Legislature, a job he held from last year until earlier this year. His term was dominated by allegations that the Republican majority was drafting unconstitutional legislation.

Stutz says he witnessed “numerous attempts to undo the will of the people and to undermine the Montana and United States Constitutions.”

Other Democrats running include state Sen. Kim Gillan of Billings, state Rep. Franke Wilmer of Bozeman and Missoula City Council member Dave Strohmaier.

Businessman Steve Daines of Bozeman has been the clear choice so far for among leading Republicans.
