Bears Waking Up in Glacier National Park
Glacier Bears
WEST GLACIER – Grizzly and black bears are emerging from their dens in Glacier National Park, park officials said.
Two east-side park employees spotted a large grizzly bear last Thursday as they walked along Going-to-the-Sun Road near St. Mary Campground.
Park Superintendent Chas Cartwright reminds visitors to be alert for bear activity.
Once they emerge from their dens, the bears will roam widely in search of food and will aggressively protect a food source. Females will also fiercely protect their cubs.
Visitors are asked to report any bear activity to the nearest visitor center or ranger station as soon as possible.
