Bigfork Man Killed in Saturday Crash ID’d

A 42-year-old Bigfork man died at the scene of a Jan. 18 crash on Highway 209, near the intersection with Swan River Road.

According to the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office, James Lee Brown was not wearing his seat belt during the single-vehicle crash, which was reported at 7:42 p.m. on Saturday. Brown was pronounced dead at the scene.

Montana Highway Patrol reported that Brown was driving a pickup that went off the icy highway, hit a guardrail, and rolled down an embankment into the Swan River.

A 22-year-old Kalispell man who was a passenger was taken to Kalispell Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.
