Bigfork’s Relay for Life Lagging

By Beacon Staff

Bigfork’s 4th annual Relay for Life fundraiser needs a boost.

“It’s just been kind of slow,” says Jolene Bradstreet, Chair of Team Development for the Relay.

Bradstreet says they have 21 teams currently, down from 29 last year. But there’s still time to get involved, and Bradstreet is hopeful.

“Last year I had 4 or 5 [teams] come in at the last minute, so I’m hoping that’s the case this year,” Bradstreet says last year’s goal of raising $80-thousand was reached due to several last minute special donations. This year the goal is $83-grand, and the fundraisers have already started up around town.

Western States Insurance has a bake sale during Bigfork’s 4th of July parade, Flathead Bank has a bake sale scheduled for July 14th, to name a few, and there are luminaries available for purchase before and during the Relay.

Bigfork’s Relay for Life starts July 18th with a survivor reception at 5PM and opening ceremonies at 6PM. Music will run into the evening, and food and festivities will be available for walkers throughout the night.
