Bozeman Adopts Temporary Zoning Rules for Medical Marijuana Shops

By Beacon Staff

BOZEMAN – Bozeman city commissioners say they plan to adopt temporary zoning regulations for medical marijuana shops while permanent rules can be drafted.

Commissioners told staffers Monday to draw up emergency interim zoning rules that would keep the shops at least 1,000 feet away from schools, daycares and Montana State University.

Commissioners plan to vote on March 11 to enact the temporary rules, giving them four months to draft permanent rules for where medical marijuana can be grown, sold and used.

Commissioner Carson Taylor says an interim ordinance would preserve patients’ access to medical marijuana while also protecting the city from having shops open up in inappropriate locations.
