Bullock Outlines Hunting, Fishing Access Goals
Democratic gubernatorial candidate aims to stop the privatization and commercialization of public wildlife
HELENA — Democratic gubernatorial candidate Steve Bullock says his hunting and fishing access priorities include ending road disputes and stopping the privatization and commercialization of public wildlife.

The attorney general also says he will try to preserve public access to hunting and fishing if elected and rebuild relationships with private landowners in the state's block-management program.

Bullock outlined his priorities Tuesday with a five-page position paper that says the right to access Montana's public lands is constantly being challenged.

The paper doesn't outline specific proposals.

Bullock faces former Republican congressman Rick Hill in the race to succeed Gov. Brian Schweitzer.

Hill previously released a hunting and fishing plan that also talks about rebuilding relationships with private landowners. Hill also says he would scrutinize spending and land acquisitions by Fish, Wildlife and Parks.
