Bullock to Deliver State of State Speech
Bullock speaks to the Legislature at 7 p.m. on Wednesday
HELENA – Gov. Steve Bullock will be delivering his first State of the State speech to lawmakers who are analyzing his budget requests.

Bullock speaks to the Legislature in the House chambers at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.

The governor's office says he will outline his plans to "create jobs, expand educational opportunities, and build a more effective government."

The Republican response will be given afterward by Rep. Austin Knudsen of Culbertson. The 31-year-old attorney plans to talk about tax relief, job creation and improving the economy.

Bullock is asking lawmakers for a $500 million spending increase to pay for $400-per-homeowner tax rebates, more money for schools, a pay raise for state employees who have worked under salary freezes, and a plan to fix the pension system.

@NPDXReporter I think I'll start strategically calling it "pre-lunch" too, and then "forget" to eat my real lunch later. #dessertforlunch
