CDC: Montana 10th-Thinnest State
Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention released its list of most obese states this week and the bad news is the country isn’t losing any weight. The good news is Montana is one of the least fat states.
The report, which measures rates from 2011, found that 24.6 percent of Montanans were obese. That’s the 10th thinnest in the country, according to the CDC’s Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System.
Among regions, the report found that the South had the highest prevalence of obesity (29.5 percent), followed by the Midwest (29.0 percent), the Northeast (25.3 percent) and the West (24.3 percent). Mississippi had the highest prevalence of obesity at 34.9 percent.
