CFalls Art Students’ Work on Display for Centennial

By Beacon Staff

An art exhibit created by the talented young artists at Columbia Falls High School and inspired by Glacier National Park will make its debut at Discovery Square on March 25.

The students began the project last fall semester, and have finished with about 30 pieces of art. The CFHS wood shop class also partnered with the art class to make custom frames for each piece.

From a First Best Place Task Force press release:

These students went all out,” says CFHS Career Counselor Doug Cordier, a member of the First Best Place Centennial Committee. “The cooperation between different sections of the student body was impressive, and made the project really special.”

The March 25 exhibit premier runs from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Each student will present their work and answer questions about the project. The evening’s festivities will include live music, appetizers and non-alcoholic beverages. The event, sponsored by Glacier Bank, is going to be classy, so the entire community is encouraged to dress up and drop by to support the students.

The exhibit is on a valley-wide tour, which will run through July and will include stops in the park.

Launching in conjunction with the Gallery Night event on March 25th, the student art will be featured in an online auction at www.firstbestplace.org. The auction will be ongoing through the final Heritage Days display, and anyone can log on and bid. The students have generously agreed to donate ½ of the proceeds of the art sales to First Best Place.
