Girls Attend Rotary Youth Leadership Camp

Columbia Falls Students get RYLA’d Up

Students from Columbia Falls, Bigfork, Flathead and Glacier High Schools traveled to Helena for Rotary's RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award) camp earlier this month.

When summer comes, it's not unusual for kids to get riled up.

But RYLA'd up?

Not long ago, a group of 10 about-to-be high school sophomores were awarded a week at Rotary Leadership Camp at Camp Child near Helena. The program is called RYLA - Rotary Youth Leadership Award, and is open to any student who completed the ninth grade and is not the child of a Rotary Club member. Selections are typically made in the springtime, after a nomination process that usually begins in the schools and includes an interview with Rotary Club members.

The week-long camp focused on group leadership skills, collaboration, goal setting, and of course, fun. Both of the Columbia Falls students indicated that they had a great time and would recommend the camp to anyone.

Columbia Falls' RYLA campers were Ariel Ramstad and Keri Potter, shown second and third from the right in the photo above.
