Commission Appoints Cal Scott as Interim Commissioner
Seat opened up after former Commissioner Jim Dupont’s death in March
The Flathead County Commission appointed Cal Scott as the interim commissioner of District 1 on April 16.

The District 1 seat opened up after former Commissioner Jim Dupont’s death in March. As the interim commissioner, Scott will serve until the position is filled after the general elections in November.

Scott is also one of nine candidates who filed for the District 1 seat. He is the founder and director of ETHIC, an organization that works to educate and counsel consumers on real estate and mortgage matters.

During his interview in front of Commissioners Dale Lauman and Pam Holmquist, Scott said he believes the county has been prudent in its budgeting, and that the commission cannot directly create jobs for Flathead County. Job creation has to come through economic development and finding potential for growth.

Lauman and Holmquist voted unanimously to nominate Scott, and the commission thanked all the candidates for their interest in the position.

Lauman’s seat is also up for election this year, and he is not running for re-election. There are six candidates in the race for his District 3 seat.

@NPDXReporter I think I'll start strategically calling it "pre-lunch" too, and then "forget" to eat my real lunch later. #dessertforlunch
