100 Percent Contained: Crews Demobilizing on 2,200-Acre Deep Draw

MISSOULA – Fire crews are demobilizing from the Deep Draw fire that burned between Elmo and Hot Springs.

The fire was listed as 100 percent contained Monday and fire information officer Pat Cross said the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribe's fire team would take over command.

The Deep Draw fire burned 2,022 acres or 3¼ square miles near Highway 28 between Hot Springs and Elmo.

Elsewhere, about 15 fires continue to burn in the Bitterroot National Forest, many on wilderness land. The largest fire is called the Wood Hump and has burned more than 3,000 acres in the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness.

The Bitterroot fires were all started by lightning.
