Daines Gets Speaking Role at GOP Convention
Daines is running to replace U.S. Rep. Denny Rehberg
HELENA – Republican congressional candidate Steve Daines of Bozeman says he has a speaking role at the Republican National Convention next week.

Daines is running to replace U.S. Rep. Denny Rehberg, who is vacating the office to challenge U.S. Sen. Jon Tester.

Lee Newspapers of Montana reports that Daines will speak Monday afternoon at the convention in Tampa, Fla.

Daines faces Democratic state Sen. Kim Gillan of Billings. Gillan criticized Daines earlier this week for not strongly condemning the controversial remarks made by a Missouri U.S. Senate candidate about abortion and rape. Daines responded Wednesday by making it clear he finds the remarks offensive.

Daines opposes abortion except when a mother's life is at risk, while Gillan supports legalized abortion.

No, I don't want to read mini-biographies of contributors to your magazine in the front of the book.

@djtabish You may have $10, but I have the fleeting hope that I'll be a millionaire without having to do any work for it. #lazy
