Daines Raises More Than $1M For Senate Run

By Beacon Staff

U.S. Rep. Steve Daines’ campaign reports the Republican raised more than $1 million in the final three months of 2013.

Daines is running for the U.S. Senate seat that Democrat Max Baucus is vacating.

Daines’ campaign reported Monday the freshman congressman raised nearly $1.04 million in the fourth quarter of 2013.

The campaign had $1.9 million cash on hand as the election year got under way.

The report is his first since he announced his candidacy in November.

Daines is the early frontrunner for the Republican nomination. Democrats running for the race include Lt. Gov. John Walsh, former Lt. Gov. John Bohlinger and newcomer Dirk Adams of Wilsall.

Baucus announced last year that he would not run for re-election. He is nominated as the next U.S. ambassador to China.
