Deferred Prosecution for FWP Deputy Director

By Beacon Staff

HELENA — Helena city attorneys have reached a deferred prosecution agreement on a misdemeanor assault charge filed against the deputy director of the Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks.

Mike Volesky was charged after allegedly punching another man in downtown Helena on Aug. 22. Court records said the man had reportedly made a derogatory remark about the woman accompanying Volesky.

Deputy City Attorney Todd Baker tells the Independent Record (http://bit.ly/1iUKccV ) that if Volesky meets the conditions of the agreement for six months the charge will be dismissed. The conditions include undergoing an anger management assessment, not contacting the victim and remaining a law-abiding citizen.

Volesky did not return phone messages from the newspaper seeking comment.
