Deputies Investigating Suspected Murder-Suicide Near Libby

By Beacon Staff

LIBBY (AP) – Lincoln County sheriff’s deputies say they are investigating a suspected murder-suicide near here.

Authorities received a report early Friday of two people on the floor of the state highway department building three miles south of Libby on U.S. 2.

Deputies said that when they arrived, they found the bodies of a man and a woman, both dead from apparent gunshot wounds.

The two have been identified as Robert Plough, 49, and Louise Plough, 54, both of Libby. Deputies said they believe one of the Ploughs was the shooter.

Robert Plough was a maintenance worker for the Montana Department of Transportation, according to the agency’s Web site.

A call to the sheriff’s office seeking additional information Saturday was not returned, and there was no answer at the Department of Transportation office in Helena.
