Deputy Shoots Man’s Tires to End Chase Near Ronan
Victor Anthony Morigeau of Ronan fled in his car when an officer attempted to stop him
MISSOULA — The Lake County Sheriff's Department says a deputy shot out the tires of a suspect's vehicle to end a half-hour car chase near Ronan.

The department's statement says Victor Anthony Morigeau of Ronan fled in his car when an officer attempted to stop him Friday afternoon.

Authorities say Morigeau led a deputy and a Ronan police officer onto Rocky Butte road and through a field.

The sheriff's department says Morigeau attempted to run over the deputy, who fired shots at the vehicle and blew out the tires.

The Missoulian reports (http://bit.ly/YRoSrQ ) the deputy has been placed on administrative leave while an investigation is conducted.

Morigeau is charged with drunken driving and two counts of assault on a police officer.
