Dissly Commits to Play at Boise State
Named Gatorade Player of the Year earlier today
BOZEMAN — Bozeman High defensive end and Montana Gatorade football player of the year Will Dissly has committed to joining the Boise State football team.

Dissly made his official visit over the weekend and informed Boise State coach Chris Petersen of his decision on Sunday. He can sign his letter of intent on Feb. 6.

The 6-foot-5, 250-pound Dissly was the Class AA co-defensive MVP as a junior and senior. This year he had 57 tackles, 12 tackles for a loss. 9.5 sacks, four pass breakups, two fumbles forced, two fumbles recovered and two touchdowns. He also played tight end where he caught 55 passes for 917 yards and 11 touchdowns as Bozeman went unbeaten in winning the Class AA state title.

Dissly told the Bozeman Daily Chronicle it was hard to turn down Montana State in his hometown, where his older brother played basketball, but said Boise State felt like a good fit. He said he plans to go into the construction management or engineering field and said Boise State's expanding business school was a draw.

Dissly tells the Idaho Press Tribune says he was assured during the recruiting process that Petersen wasn't leaving Boise State.

"I talked to him multiple times about it. It came up briefly on the visit. I felt comfortable with coach Petersen. He's a very honest guy who tells the truth and is up front with you. When he told us he was going to stay, I took his word on that and I trust him," Dissly said.

BSU has one other Montana player on the roster — the team's leading receiver Matt Miller of Helena.
