EXPLORE: Bigfork Public Dock

By Beacon Staff

Although it’s getting late in the season, the Bigfork Public Dock provides an excellent departure point for a canoe or kayak adventure on Flathead Lake.

The dock also features a newly installed canoe and kayak rack, which was built in September.

The boat rack was the idea of Bigfork Park Advisory Committee member Sharon Hopkins.

The metal structure cost $800 to build, $500 of which was donated by the Community Foundation for a Better Bigfork.

Blacksmith Jeffrey Funk built the rack using part of an old bridge. The Flathead County Parks and Recreation Department also supported the project.

Now that the rack is installed, people will be able to paddle to the dock and store their boat while they enjoy everything downtown Bigfork has to offer.

How to Get There

The Bigfork Public Dock is on Grand Drive across from the Bigfork Grand Hotel, near downtown.
