Flathead Valley schools are preparing for annual homecoming weekends, with football games, parades and dances.

Festivities kick off at Flathead High School in Kalispell during the week of Sept. 9 to 15. On Monday, the school hosted a powderpuff football game at Legends Field.

On Thursday, Sept. 13, there is a homecoming parade through downtown at 4 p.m. The following day, Flathead’s football team takes on Helena at 7 p.m. and on Saturday the school hosts its annual student dance.

The following week, it’s Glacier High School’s Homecoming, going from Sept. 17 to 21.

After that, the surrounding communities get into the action; Columbia Falls’ festivities start on Sept. 24 and then Bigfork and Whitefish celebrate during the first week of October.

For more information about parades, games and other festivities, contact your local high school.

@NPDXReporter I think I'll start strategically calling it "pre-lunch" too, and then "forget" to eat my real lunch later. #dessertforlunch
