EXPLORE: Woodland Ice Center

By Beacon Staff

Winter is in the air and that means it’s time to lace up the skates and head for the Woodland Ice Center in Kalispell.

The ice rink in Woodland Park opened just two weeks ago and public skate times are available on the weekends.

The ice rink is owned and managed by the Flathead Valley Hockey Association, a nonprofit that was established in 2007.

The group also manages youth and adult hockey leagues. There are teams for children 8 years old and up.

There are also men’s and women’s drop-in scrimmage hockey when you can show up and play a quick game. Each game is $10 or you can get a punch card and play 10 games for $90. Men’s drop-in is on Tuesday at 8:45 p.m.; women’s is Wednesday at 8:45 p.m. or Sunday at 11:45 a.m.; co-ed drop-in is Saturday night at 7 p.m.

The public skates start at 12 p.m. on Saturday and 1:15 p.m. Sunday.

And if you don’t have skates, rentals are available for $3. Fees for public skate are $5 for children and $6 for adults.
