Will Koness, left, barely has to touch the 40-foot Douglas fir truss to keep it steady as it hangs from a crane Monday at a building site north of Lakeside. Originally a part of the Klickitat Log and Lumber Company sawmill in Klickitat, Wash., four of the 10 recycled timber trusses Mike Koness, co-owner of Centennial Timber Frames, purchased 12 years ago are being used in the construction of the Riley South Building off U.S. Highway 93.

In an effort to build a energy efficient and “green” structure, the building will utilize Logix insulated concrete forms for the foundation and rear wall, Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs), recycled wood trim outside and inside, metal roofing made from recycled content and recycled metal trim outside the building. Hydronic heating will heat the space.
