Feature Photo: Sept. 11 Anniversary Freedom Walk
Participants walked to Depot Park from the American Legion Hall
David Maurer, center left, stands with fellow veterans, supporters, members of the Kalispell Legion Post 137 and members of the 495th CSSB Montana Army National Guard at Depot Park in Kalispell during a brief ceremony honoring the 11th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.

Passing drivers yelled thanks and honked their horns in support as the group of around 20 participants walked to the park from the American Legion Hall on Fourth Avenue East North. After a few words from Post 137 Commander Ray Anderson and a moment of silence, the group marched back to the American Legion Hall with flags flying high.

@NPDXReporter I think I'll start strategically calling it "pre-lunch" too, and then "forget" to eat my real lunch later. #dessertforlunch
