Flathead County’s Jobless Rate Falls to 7 Percent

Flathead County’s non-seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell precipitously in May to 7 percent, from 8.4 percent a month earlier. Meanwhile, the statewide seasonally adjusted jobless rate ticked down to 5.4 percent from 5.5 percent in April, continuing a long-term downward trend that started in mid-2010.

Labor Commissioner Pam Bucy says Montana added more than 2,500 jobs in the past two months.

Flathead’s May jobless rate is 2.2 percentage points lower than the same month last year.

The national rate increased by 0.1 percentage point to 7.6 percent.

Here are the jobless rates for every Montana county.
