Former Commerce Director Hired at MSU-Northern

By Beacon Staff

HAVRE – The former state commerce director has accepted a job at Montana State-Northern.

KOJM-AM in Havre reports Tony Preite has been named director of university outreach and economic development.

Part of Preite’s job will be meeting with potential partners for university programs. He says he’ll be working to expand the school’s bio-energy program and hopefully commercialize it.

Preite retired as commerce director on Aug. 1. He has previously worked as executive director of Bear Paw Development, an economic development agency in Havre, and as head of USDA Rural Development.

MSU-Northern Chancellor Frank Trocki says Preite’s relationships across the state and federal levels will be essential for Northern to move forward with several of its initiatives.
