FVCC to Gather Input for University Center
Flathead Valley Community College will be reaching out to area businesses
As it explores the possibility of creating a four-year university center, Flathead Valley Community College will be reaching out to area businesses in March to gather input on which bachelor-level degrees should be offered.

The community college announced plans last fall to look into a university center. FVCC officials have been in discussions with officials from the University of Montana, Montana State University and the Office of the Commissioner of Higher Education. There has been widespread agreement that expanded higher-education opportunities are needed in the Flathead Valley.

FVCC will be reaching out to businesses through area chambers of commerce, the Montana Business Expansion and Retention Program, and Montana West Economic Development, according to a press release. Current students and alumni will also be asked for input.

“Having a university center at FVCC has been a common request from area businesses and community members,” FVCC President Jane Karas said. “We are excited about the opportunity to expand our partnerships with the Montana University System to continue to meet our community’s needs.”
