FVCC to Host Informational Meeting for Manufacturers

By Beacon Staff

Flathead Valley Community College and Northwest Montana Small Business Development Center invite local manufacturing companies to an informational presentation on state and federal funding opportunities available for research and development activities.

The event is Jan. 28. The Montana Board of Research and Commercialization Technology is currently soliciting applications from companies seeking research and development and/or commercialization funding. Proposals are due March 1. There also are two federal programs, the Small Business Innovation Research and the Small Business Technology Transfer, that involve 11 federal agencies and offer much larger grant and contract awards to companies engaged in research and development and subsequent commercialization.

During the local presentation, John Balsam, director of the local SBDC office, will outline the MBRCT’s proposal requirements and explain what applicants can do to make their proposals competitive. Balsam also will present information on the SBIR and STTR programs. The meeting will close with an overview of a variety of other resources available to businesses in Northwest Montana.

The event will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. in Room 144 inside the Arts and Technology Building on the FVCC campus.

There is no charge to attend this meeting, but company representatives planning to attend should RSVP in advance by calling 756-3832.
