FWP Still Looking for Mountain Lion that Stalked Child
Bold mountain lion frightened several campers in the Clearwater Junction area
MISSOULA — State wildlife officials are still looking for a bold mountain lion that has frightened several campers in the Clearwater Junction area.

Fish, Wildlife and Parks biologist Jay Kolbe says the lion startled hikers and campers in three locations two weeks ago, even stalking a 4-year-old girl. Officials believe the same cat wandered into Salmon Lake State Park on Monday night.

Kolbe tells the Missoulian that no one was threatened, but the lion was vocalizing.

FWP wildlife conflict specialist Bob Wiesner and his chase dog, Spinner, are saying at the Salmon Lake campground in hopes of getting on the lion's trail quickly after the next sighting.

Wildlife officials say the cat's unusual and aggressive behavior led to the decision to capture and kill it.

@NPDXReporter I think I'll start strategically calling it "pre-lunch" too, and then "forget" to eat my real lunch later. #dessertforlunch
