Who knew there were so many stories about heart transplants? Regardless of your feelings about the upcoming holiday, take heart, literally, with one of these books. There’s something for every taste, from suspense to memoir.

Thriller: “Your Heart Belongs to Me” by Dean Koontz. Young handsome millionaire Ryan has everything, until his heart suddenly gives out. After his heart transplant, a mysterious woman, who claims he has her heart, begins to stalk him.

Inspirational: “Not in the Heart” by Chris Fabry. What would you do if your son’s heart was failing, and a death row inmate promised his heart in exchange for telling his story?

Suspense: “A Heartbeat Away” by Harry Lee Kraus. A brilliant surgeon finds herself on the operating table for a heart transplant. Then she begins to remember a murder in vivid detail, and her orderly life starts to crumble.

Memoir: “The Climb of My Life” by Kelly Perkins. At 30, Perkins has a heart transplant. But that doesn’t stop her from climbing some of the world’s tallest mountains.

Thriller: “What the Heart Remembers” by Debra Ginsberg. New memories haunt the mind of recent heart transplant patient Eden. She leaves her life, job and fiancé, and follows the memories to another city to search for clues about the unknown heart donor.

Young Adult: “In a Heartbeat” by Loretta Elsworth. When 16-year-old Eagan dies in a figure-skating accident, 14-year-old Amelia gets her heart. Amelia begins to dream about figure skating, and Eagan is trapped in limbo while she revisits her mistakes.

These stories should warm your heart, curdle your blood or make your heart skip a beat.
