For the second straight year, the Glacier boys guaranteed themselves a ticket to the Class AA state tournament in the regular season.
The Wolfpack (16-3) captured their second straight Western AA title after winning their eighth straight game on Friday. Glacier had four players score in double figures and scorched Flathead 57-33 at home. Evan Epperly scored 15, Kyle Griffith and Ryan Edwards each had 11 and Logan Iverson added 10.
Hoping to advance to state for the third year in a row, the Braves (10-10) host Missoula Sentinel (8-12) at 7 p.m. on Thursday in a play-in game. Flathead won both contests against Sentinel this season in close games. The Braves beat the Spartans 49-45 on Jan. 5 and 59-58 on Feb. 11.
The Glacier (11-8) girls are still trying to earn the program’s first trip to the state tournament. The Wolfpack travel to Helena to play Capital (10-10) at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams split this season, both winning at home. Glacier won 50-47 on Jan. 27 and Capital won 59-45 on Feb. 18.
Flathead (8-12) travels to Missoula to play Big Sky (10-10) at 7 p.m. on Friday. Big Sky swept the regular season series, winning 52-49 and 71-52.
The Billings West boys (19-1) and Bozeman girls (20-0) earned automatic bids to the state tournaments from Eastern AA. Missoula Sentinel (16-4) is the Western AA girls champion.
