Glacier County Commissioner’s Beating Trial Postponed

By Beacon Staff

LIBBY – The trial of three brothers accused of beating a Glacier County commissioner was postponed because the lead prosecutor in the case was hospitalized.

The trial of Todd, Aaron and Brian Molenda was set to start Tuesday but Lincoln County Clerk of Court Susie Farmer told the Great Falls Tribune that prosecutor Brant Light was hospitalized.

It was not immediately known why Light was hospitalized. A new trial date has not been set.

The state’s Attorney General’s Office charged the brothers with criminal endangerment in the Sept. 20 beating of County Commissioner Ron Rides at the Door outside a Cut Bank bar.

The commissioner has said he was trying to stop the brothers from attacking another man.

The Glacier County case was moved to Libby because of massive publicity.
