Glacier Park Death Declared Accidental Drowning
Drowning with contributing factors of hypothermia and schizophrenia
The Flathead County Coroner's Office has declared the death of 28-year-old Amy Marie Reddig an accidental drowning.

The Kalispell woman's body was found at the head of Lake McDonald in Glacier National Park on March 14.

Park officials received a missing person's report for Reddig from the Flathead County Sheriff's Office at about 10:15 a.m. that day, and, after searchers found her car at the Lake McDonald Lodge parking lot, started searching the area at about 11:45 a.m.

Personnel from Flathead Emergency Aviation Resources (FEAR) spotted Reddig's body at about 3 p.m. that day, at the head of Lake McDonald, near the inlet of McDonald Creek.

The coroner determined that Reddig's death was caused by drowning, with contributing factors of hypothermia and schizophrenia. The water temperature was approximately 36 degrees when Reddig's body was removed.

Personnel from Flathead National Forest, Flathead County Sheriff’s Office, Flathead Search and Rescue, North Valley Search and Rescue, and Flathead Emergency Aviation Resources (FEAR) and Glacier National Park Rangers and employees contributed to the search.

“We send our sympathy to the Reddig Family, and our appreciation to our partners that provided professional and timely assistance during the incident," Interim Glacier National Park Superintendent Kym Hall said in a prepared statement.
