Glacier Park Sees 14 Percent Increase in Visitors
More than 490,000 visitors to the park so far this year
Glacier National Park officials say there have been more than 490,000 visitors to the park so far this year.

Officials said that's an increase of 14 percent compared to the first six months of 2011.

The National Park Service Public Use Statistics Office also says the number of visitors to the park in June was up nearly 18 percent compared to June 2011.

Officials say the increase this year could be due to the relatively early opening on June 18 of Going-to-the-Sun Road over Logan Pass.

The road didn't open last year until July 13.
