Glacier Park Sun Road’s Last Weekend

By Beacon Staff

WEST GLACIER – This is the last weekend that the entire Going to the Sun Road will be open in Glacier National Park.

The National Park Service will close the road from Avalanche to Logan Pass at 12:01 a.m. Monday for accelerated construction. Hikers and bicyclists will be able to go past Avalanche for some time afterward.

On the east side of the park, the road will be open to Logan Pass until Oct. 19 weather permitting. This fall there are five projects along the Going to the Sun Road, including construction on the alpine section up to Logan Pass.

There will also be repairs from flood damage above Logan Creek.
