Glacier Park Visitation Up Almost 10 Percent in July
More than 630,000 people visited the park last month
The number of visitors at Glacier National Park increased almost 10 percent in July compared to a year ago, according to the National Park Service Public Use Statistics Office.

More than 630,000 people visited Glacier last month, a 9.6 percent increase over July 2011. So far this year, roughly 1.12 million recreationists have visited Glacier, a 14 percent increase compared to a year ago.

The number of overnight stays last month increased as well, by 9.5 percent. Roughly 125,000 recreationists stayed overnight compared to 114,204 last year. Concession lodging increased 24.2 percent and backcountry camping increased 21.9 percent.

The National Park Service reported that visitation at Yellowstone National Park dropped 2.1 percent in July compared to 2011. Last month, 888,335 people visited the park

The overall visitation numbers through July are still up at Yellowstone, with 1.9 million recreational visitors compared to 1.8 million during the same period last year.
