Grizzlies Open Football Camp Searching for Quarterback
Team scheduled to begin fall camp Tuesday afternoon
MISSOULA — The Montana football team begins fall practice with a new coach and searching for a new starting quarterback.

The Griz were scheduled to begin fall camp Tuesday afternoon under Mick Delaney, who became interim coach halfway through spring drills and now has a two-year contract.

Quarterback Jordan Johnson, who led the Graz to the Football Championship Subdivision semifinals last winter, is suspended after being charged with rape.

Gerald Kemp, a former quarterback who had been suspended over the summer, has returned to the team as a wide receiver.

Delaney says Trent McKinney, Shay Smithwick-Hann, incoming freshman Brady Gustafson and former Stanford walk-on Adam Brzeczek (BREZ'-ek) all will be considered for the quarterback spot.

Delaney tells the Missoulian that Brzeczek would have come to Montana even if Johnson hadn't been suspended.

Montana's first scrimmage is Sunday evening at Washington Grizzly Stadium.
