Guard Assaulted at Flathead Juvenile Center

By Beacon Staff

Two teenage boys are accused of assaulting a female guard while attempting to escape from the Flathead County Juvenile Detention Center.

Deputy County Attorney Caleb Simpson said Wednesday that it happened late Tuesday night.

At about 11:30 p.m., a female guard was preparing to transfer two 16-year old boys to different cells. The teens allegedly punched the guard, pushed her down and then took her keys in an attempt to escape.

Simpson says the pair realized the keys would not get them outside the building, and they then returned to their cell.

He says the guard suffered minor injuries and was not taken to the hospital.

Simpson says the two teens were being held on misdemeanors, but now are likely to be charged with felony attempted escape and assault on a detention officer.
