April Showers?

High Winds Uproot Trees in Whitefish

It must be spring in Montana. On April 21, the sun was shining and in parts of the Flathead Valley the thermometer reached 80 degrees. Exactly a week later, a storm rolled in, heavy snow knocked out power, four feet of snow fell in some areas and high winds uprooted trees.

A reader sent in this photo of a fallen tree south of Whitefish – thanks, Tami!

The forecast does call for warmer weather by this weekend.

Uh oh, the Whitefish City Council and planning staff better draft an ordinance to prevent trees from uprooting.
