Kalispell Man Dies in North Dakota Oil Rig Accident
20-year-old Kyle Winters, of Kalispell, died Thursday
WATFORD CITY, N.D. – Authorities have identified a Montana man who died after an incident at an oil drilling rig in western North Dakota.

Forum Communications reports that 20-year-old Kyle Winters, of Kalispell, died Thursday.

The initial report from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration says he was crushed by a set of power tongs, which is equipment used to handle pipe going in and out of well holes.

The incident happened at a rig north of Watford City. OSHA says Winters died while receiving treatment from paramedics who were preparing to fly him to a Bismarck hospital.
