Kalispell Native’s Documentary ‘Bridegroom’ Screens at FVCC

By Beacon Staff

The documentary “Bridegroom,” which won the audience award at eight film festivals including the prestigious Tribeca Film Festival last May, will be shown at Flathead Valley Community College on Nov. 25.

This special showing, held inside the Arts & Technology Building in room 139 at 4 p.m., will donate a portion of the proceeds to local anti-bullying and mentoring programs in Kalispell Public Schools and the GSA program in Whitefish. Tickets for the 4 p.m. show will be $7.00 per person, and DVDs will be on sale for $20. There are only 250 seats available and a sellout is expected.

“Bridegroom” tells the story of Kalispell native Shane Bitney Crone’s journey after Tom Bridegroom’s tragic death in 2011. The film screened at the Tribeca Film Festival where it won the Audience Award for Best Documentary and is now generating buzz about a possible Oscar nod for Best Documentary.

Bitney Crone posted “It Could Happen to You” on YouTube in May 2012, and it went viral, receiving over 4 million views. He was then contacted by a well-known Los Angeles producer to film a documentary. A touching tribute, the film examines the universal themes of love and loss. “Bridegroom” recently debuted on the Oprah Winfrey Network and was released on Netflix. It continues to receive rave reviews.

Electronic tickets are available on the KEF website at www.kalispelleducationfoundation.org. Guests should print out their purchase receipt to serve as their ticket for the event. For additional information call 751-3432.
