Kalispell Teen Gets Prison for Fatal Campground Shooting

By Beacon Staff

A 19-year-old Kalispell woman convicted of shooting a man to death at a Libby-area campground was sentenced Wednesday to 20 years in prison with 15 years suspended.

Last month, a jury found Heather Henson guilty of mitigated attempted deliberate homicide in the July 12 death of 67-year-old Larry Kingsley.

Court records say Henson told investigators that Kingsley gave her $2,300 and when she lost it, he implied she would have to pay it back with sex.

Henson and her boyfriend Stephen Thomas, who was 17 at the time of the shooting, agreed to go to Kingsley’s campsite near Libby. Henson told investigators Kingsley was shot more than a dozen times after he allegedly held a knife to Thomas’ neck and threatened to kill her.

Thomas is set to go to trial March 23.
