Kalispell Woman Convicted in Campground Shooting

By Beacon Staff

A 19-year-old Kalispell woman charged with murder in the shooting death of a man at a Libby-area campground has been convicted of a lesser charge.

A District Court jury in Libby deliberated about five hours Wednesday before finding Heather Henson guilty of mitigated attempted deliberate homicide in the July 12 death of 67-year-old Larry Kingsley.

Kingsley was shot over a dozen times and Henson’s boyfriend, Stephen Thomas, is also charged with deliberate homicide in the case. He will be tried at a later date.

Henson testified that she shot Kingsley because he was holding a knife to Thomas’ throat.

Henson’s sentencing was scheduled for Jan. 12.
