Kalispell Women Sentenced for Food Stamp Fraud

MISSOULA – A 33-year-old Kalispell woman who pleaded guilty to theft of government funds has been ordered to pay nearly $16,000 in restitution for welfare benefits she was not entitled to receive.

Summer Fetters also was sentenced to five years of probation Thursday by U.S. District Judge Donald Molloy.

Prosecutors say between December 2005 and December 2007 Fetters made false statements on Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services applications and received government benefits to which she was not entitled. She received overpayments of $7,938 in food stamps, $2,390 in Temporary Assistance for Needy Families benefits and $6,382 in Medicaid payments.
