Northwest University's goalkeeper, Patty Hughes of Kalispell, has been voted the Red Lion CCC Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the league office.

Hughes, a graduate of Glacier High, was one of the defensive keys in the 1-0 NU shut out of Carroll College on Friday in the CCC-Frontier Challenge. Hughes made seven key saves in the game which helped preserve the lead over the NAIA ranked Saints from Helena. Hughes had to leave Saturday's game in the 14th minute with Rocky Mountain after sustaining an injury.

Northwest University is a private, four-year Christian university in Kirkland, Wash., located just east of Seattle and north of Bellevue. Founded in 1934, Northwest is a member of the 10-team Cascade Collegiate Conference and a member of the NAIA.
