Lakeside Woman Sentenced for Theft in Katrina Case

By Beacon Staff

MISSOULA – Hurricane Katrina fraud led to a sentence of three years on probation, for a Montana woman.

Forty-nine-year-old Adle Jackson of Lakeside appeared before a federal judge in Missoula on Thursday, for sentencing after she pleaded guilty to theft of government property.

Prosecutors say that had there been a trial, they’d have proven Jackson obtained federal disaster relief by lying that she had a home and property damaged by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Jackson received a federal check for $2,000.

Government auditors later determined that she did not have a home in New Orleans.

Besides serving three years on probation, Jackson must pay $2,000 in restitution and perform 100 hours of community service.
